I would highly recommend staying away from WinWing. This is going to be a tad long so hang tight. I recently got into DCS and jumped into the deep end by purchasing a Warthog HOTAs and a TrackIR. As I learn the game, I really started to get the itch to "upgrade" my setup (lol) and began looking for a new HOTAs. HOTAS = Hands On Throttle And Stick. Means that the majority of controls you use the most are all on the stick so your hands don't have to leave them. The cheapest option that many seem to like as an entry-level HOTAS is the Thrustmaster T-Flight. Has a twisty stick and throttle. Twisty is for the rudder/yaw axis by default. I'm playing with a hotas for flying and while my fly time is going down as I start to build a fleet and empire I still like to fly my new ships or just take control. Much like my real life job I'm meant to manage but I like being hands on too much.Since 3.18.2 I've had no issues using both in-game but as pf 3.21 the flight stick's inputs aren't registering. I've tried importing the control profiles for the HOTAS (which worked) in the past with no success in getting the stick to work. The throttle works fine and both the throttle and stick work in DCS and War Thunder.The VKB Gladiator is a great mid-range joystick to play space sims. The stick has better precision than the T16000m and a decent amount of buttons. It also has a twist which is great for single-stick usage combined with a mouse or keyboard. VKB may be less known to the general public but has top quality products.

All it really does is turn two physical devices (your Warthog Stick and your Warthog Throttle) in to one logical device (Thrustmaster Combined) that Windows sees. It does this all in an absolutely shite interface. I've had a Warthog, A VKB and an x52 pro. VKB is obviously the best, but after tax and customs I paid $300 for just the stick. If you're looking for your first HOTAS just to dip your toes in, then I recommend the x52 pro. I paid $200 for mine and its been an absolute trooper.

As far as price goes the warthog hotas was easily half the price of the vkb or virpil which didn't include a throttle. So as far as quality goes for the price of a complete virpil hotas I would expect it to be better than the TM. Remember I got the complete hotas for £350.
